‘If you want to teach people a new way of thinking, don’t bother trying to teach them. Instead, give them a tool, the use of which will lead to new ways of thinking.’
R. Buckminster Fuller
The exhibition will consist of three digital interventions, each questioning digital disruptiveness in art through an array of new mediums.
Room One and the Delfina Foundation will co-curate a series of these digital experiences exploring how immersive art may be interwoven within an artist’s personal practice.
The first event in the Digital Permanence series will question how virtual reality challenges the categorisation of drawing as an analogue medium. This in turn pushes the artist to consider if the disruption of the machine age will interrupt, or intertwine with, their preconceived idea of image making.
‘Rational order in the technological world can be as fascinating as the fetishes of a Congo witch-doctor — scientific phenomena become significant images.’
